A MAN charged with raping a woman he met through a telephone introductory service appeared in Parramatta Local Court yesterday.

Joseph Anthony Slattery, 22, of Marlborough Street, Smithfield, was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and two counts of obtaining money by deception.

Slattery allegedly told the woman he had lost his house keys and asked to stay at her Richmond apartment.

He was told to sleep in the lounge room, but the woman told police she discovered her pyjamas were around her ankles when she awoke.

Police said Slattery went out with the victim that night and again stayed at her house, where he allegedly raped her.

Slattery was granted conditional bail.
